The most popular wood camp stove accessories are:

  • Fireproof mats that go under the stove to protect your tent floor.
  • Heat shields that attach to your tent frame protect side walls from excessive stove heat.
  • IN-LINE spark arrestors: The In-line Spark Box is designed to have a spark arrestor just above the stove. It prevents almost all the ash and sparks from going up the stove pipe and onto the canvas tent roof. You can clean your spark arrestor daily without having to take down all of your stove pipe. “I highly recommend this camp stove part.” — Rich

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main parts of any wood camp stove?

The main components of a wood camp stove include the firebox (where the wood is burned), a stove pipe that connects to the top opening of the firebox, a damper to control airflow, a rain cap or spark arrestor to prevent embers from escaping, and legs to support the firebox. You can also enhance your setup with camping stove accessories like stove mats, heat shields, and more.

Do you need a baffle on the stove door?

Yes, this is one of the most critical tent stove accessories. The baffle, located on the inside of the door, prevents sparks from shooting through the air intake valve open area on the outside of the door. Sparks can easily start a fire, especially if you are camping in a dry grass area.

Do I need a gasket on the door?

Yes. The door gasket is a crucial component of the camp stove. This part creates an airtight seal on the door, which makes more efficient use of firewood, as it allows you to control the amount of air entering the firebox. Visit your local hardware store to purchase a stove gasket and fireproof glue if your stove door requires a gasket replacement.

Do I need an in-line spark arrestor?

This part is not required. However, having one on your camp stove makes cleaning the rain cap spark arrestor much easier. The in-line spark arrestor fits into the opening on top of the stove, and the stove pipe fits on top of the in-line spark arrestor. Using all of these camp stove parts together makes for a better overall experience. The in-line spark arrestor has a removable screen that can be easily cleaned. Cleaning the in-line screen is much easier than taking down the pipe to clean the rain cap spark arrestor, which is 10 feet from the ground.

Do I need a stove mat if I have a floor in my tent?

Yes. This is one of the most important camping stove accessories, unless you already have some other type of fireproof material under your camp wood stove. A stove ember could fall out of the stove when the door is opened and possibly start a fire or burn holes in the floor. Don’t overlook camp stove parts that keep you safe. One of the tent stove accessories that Wall Tent Shop offers is a stove mat that has grommets on all four corners to attach to an internal frame. This mat also helps protect the tent’s side walls from being pushed into the stove by strong winds.
