After last elk season I knew I needed a new elk hunting tent.  My old one was well worn out.  I could look up at night and see stars through some of the burn holes in my roof.  I looked on line for hunting tents for sale for four months comparing all the canvas elk hunting tents. I decided on Wall Tent Shop for several reasons.  I am a veteran also.  Your wilderness is the most reinforced tent and probably strongest tent I have ever seen. Wall Tent Shop prices were great. You offered free features such as a Colorado door flap and back door which saved me over a hundred dollars! From what I could tell on line, which is very difficult, you had the best elk hunting tent at a very reasonable price. I just took my new wilderness tent elk hunting and I am very pleased to say my research paid off. My decision to buy the water, mildew and fire treated wilderness model and tarp fly was spot on.  We had some bad hunting weather. Windy, rained and snowed about half the time. No leaks and the tent didn't budge in the high winds. The fly kept any sparks from my old stove from burning holes in the tent roof.  Before next season I am going to buy one of your wilderness stoves. I have to say you folks build one tough tent.  Pretty impressive, Bill.

ALL WILDERNESS OUTFITTER TENTS ARE WATER AND MILDEW TREATED.   We also have winter hunting tents that are fire treated in addition to the water and mildew treatment. Water & mildew treated does not mean waterproof.  All canvas will eventually leak when the canvas gets saturated. Fire treated does not mean the canvas is fire proof.  Fire treated tents will burn if there is a continuous heat source.  Remove the heat source, such as a lantern against the wall, the canvas will stop burning.

I RECOMMEND YOU BUY A FLY or some type of very heavy-duty poly tarp to protect your canvas roof.  There are thousands and thousands of needle holes in your roof.  Ordinarily, these needle holes will close up when dousing the canvas with water to shrink it.   However, sometimes there are needle holes that don't close up.  It is best to buy a fly or heavy tarp so you don't have surprise leaks during hunting camp. Canvas tents for hunting are expensive and the fly will significantly extend the lifespan of your tent.

 PURCHASING FRAME ANGLE KITS and then buying metal conduit tubing, one inch inside diameter, is the least expensive approach in acquiring a canvas hunting tent frame.  One inch steel conduit is available at all big box stores and local hardware stores.  Canvas tents for hunting need a strong frame in the event of heavy snow storms. Purchase extra angles for more rafters to reduce the possibility of your tent collapsing.

Purchasing an angle kit for a 12x14 tent frame, including shipping, is $250 in savings when compared to  purchasing an entire frame.  16x20 savings is $400.  Normally, it takes about an hour to make a frame. Only tool required is a metal cutting tool such as a hacksaw, pipe cutter, chop saw, worm saw with metal cutting blade, band saw, etc. Basically, any metal cutting tool available. Always remove burrs after cutting pipe to correct length.  Burrs can easily cut your hand.
