STOVE STANDARD PACKAGE :
Stove Model/size is based on specific tent size ordered. Note a 12 X14 includes a medium size stove, not a small like some other tent companies
Stove included in Wilderness tent package is a Wilderness or Yukon standard stove which includes stove, pipe, damper, side shelf, rain cap with spark arrestor.
Click ANGLE KITS for information on how to easily build a tent frame from steel conduit.
PURCHASING TENT FRAME ANGLE KITS and then purchasing 1” inside diameter, galvanized steel electrical conduit at any hardware store is the most economical approach to purchasing a frame. Normal savings $250-$450 depending on the size of canvas tent and frame.
Angles that accommodate 3/4" steel conduit are not recommended. 3/4" conduit weighs about half as much as 1" conduit. Consequently, it is only about half as strong as 1" conduit and can't take much of a snow load.
6' SIDE WALL OPTION
Some companies only have 4' 7" sidewalls which severely restricts how much space you can actually use.
Strongly recommend you ask your suppliers the finished height of side walls before purchasing so you will not be surprised or disappointed upon delivery.
6 Foot option only available on FIRE, water and mildew treated tents.
CUT LIST FOR CUTTING STEEL CONDUIT FOR FRAME WILL BE PROVIDED.

ANGLE KIT UPGRADE RECOMMENDATIONS
12 x14. 4 Rafter angle kit vs standard 3 rafter. RIDGE SUPPORT. When you use a 3 rafter angle kit there will only be 1 rafter in the middle of the frame supporting the entire roof. A 4 rafter angle kit has 2 rafters evenly spaced in the middle of the frame supporting the roof. You get twice the roof support with a 4 rafter angle kit frame. A much better system especially for snow loads.
16 x 20. 5 Rafter angle kit vs standard 4 rafter. CONDUIT UTILIZATION and RIDGE SUPPORT. The 4 rafter or 5 rafter angle kit both require the same amount of conduit, 21 pieces. A 4 rafter angle kit on a 16 x 20 requires 9 cuts of 6' 6" for the ridge and 2 eaves frame poles. Requiring 9 pieces of 10' conduit. A 5 rafter angle kit has 12 cuts at 5' for the ridge and eaves requiring only 6 pieces of conduit. A much better system especially for snow loads.
16 x 24. 6 Rafter angle kit vs 5 rafter. CONDUIT UTILIZATION and RIDGE SUPPORT. A 5 rafter angle kit requires 26 pieces of conduit while the 6 rafter only requires 25. A 5 rafter angle kit on a 16 x 24 requires 12 pieces of conduit for 6' cuts. A 6 rafter requires 6 pieces of conduit with 4' 10" cuts. A much better system especially for snow loads.
STOVE SIZE UPGRADE RECOMMENDATIONS
12 x14 or 14x16. If you ever anticipate being in very cold conditions a Wilderness 5 or Yukon 5 is recommended. Wilderness 5 is 30% larger than a Wilderness 4.
Deluxe stove package is an available upgrade option which includes a water tank and grate. Click wilderness stove and yukon stove for detailed description.

FIRE RESISTANT CANVAS: Meets CPAI 84 fire retardant code. If a tent is not specifically treated for fire resistance it will burn quickly. Fire Resistant canvas will only burn when there is a flame source present on the canvas. When you remove the flame source the wall tent will stop burning. However, there is no wall tent made that will not burn.
DISCOUNTED PRICES
5" Inline spark arrestor $50 (-$22), stove fire mat $35 (-$15), stove heat shield $35 (-$15), rubber caps for frame legs (-$10 per set ), tent frame bags $28 (-$10), tent coat hangars $35 (-$10), and rebar stakes (-$10) per dozen.
Canvas should be very taut on a tent frame, especially, if set up for extended periods of time and a fly always used. Fly should also be tight to avoid water in an eave trough. Water will eventually go through the fly if saturated for weeks. Canvas saturated in water will rot and mildew regardless of water mildew protection applied. There is no warranty for eave rot.
SHIPPING BAGS for floors, fly, extended fly, porches and cook shacks options are not large enough to be used for storage bags.
RECOMMENDATION: ALWAYS KEEP YOUR TENT ROOF AND FLY TAUT SO WATER CAN QUICKLY BE REMOVED FROM YOUR TENT. Water can collect on the roof in an "eave trough" which is a low area just before the sidewall created by a not tight roof or loose fly.

WILDERNESS STANDARD FEATURES are worth $200 in options for some other tent companies you will see on the internet.
- 5 FOOT WALLS. Not a 5' cut size which is only 4' 8". Some competitors have the 4' 8" side walls. Walls are measured from the outside of tent.
-
- WALLS ARE FULL 5' OF CANVAS. Some unusual designed tents have only 4' walls with 18" of vinyl sewn onto the bottom of the tent. The 18" sod cloth cannot be staked down and wind blows under the sod cloth creating a tent that can't be heated properly in cold weather. Additionally, the sod cloth will flap in the wind making for a less than an enjoyable camping experience.
-
Tents must have the canvas walls touching the ground in order to stake the walls to the ground to prevent wind blowing under the tent walls.
Windows are 30" x 30". Not small triangle windows that provide much less ventilation
-
FREE BACK DOOR OR BACK WINDOW. Back door only on 16 x 20 and 16 x 24 Wilderness canvas tents.
- STOVE JACK. 5 1/2" fire proof tent opening in roof to allow stove pipe to go through. Only single wall pipe is necessary. 6 inch stove jack available by cutting just before the 6" pattern on the stove jack. Most stoves require a 5 1/2 inch stove jack. 5" is too small.
-
STORM FLAP/COLORADO DOOR. 8" storm flap with buckle protects front & back door zippers.
- FREE REINFORCED EAVE WITH WEBBING ENTIRE LENGTH OF EAVE. Webbing is on bottom of the eave to allow rain and snow to run off eave easily. You put much pressure on eaves when staking out the tent with ropes. Webbing sewn into canvas eaves is so much stronger than just canvas eaves.
-
STEEL D RINGS SEWN INTO WEBBING. Much stronger than other tents with just metal grommets pressed into canvas. Grommets can easily tear out of canvas eaves.
-
DOUBLE LAYER OF CANVAS ON RIDGE. Reinforces tent ridge.
-
VINYL SOD CLOTH. 10" vinyl sod cloth sewn onto bottom of walls.
-
TENT BAG. Very large.
-
RIDGE OPENINGS FOR LODGE POLE. Ridge opening on each ridge end to allow lodge pole set up.
-
FRONT ZIPPERED DOOR, YKK #10. The best heavy duty zipper made.
- 200 FEET OF ROPES AND 20 TENSIONERS
OPTIONS AVAILABLE
At the bottom of this page are OPTION PHOTOS and explanations. Options include porches, cook shacks, fly's (protective tarp), floors.
FLY included in package is a special made tarp that protects your tent roof and has opening that matches your tent opening. 200 feet of rope and rope tensioners included.
FLOOR can be substituted for fly in the package. Floor is an 18 oz vinyl and is only available in the stake in model. Floor is also available for purchase if you want both the fly and floor. If you are on a limited budget and can afford only either the fly or floor, I recommend the fly. The fly is more important because it protects the tent from stove sparks, adds another moisture barrier, keeps the canvas roof clean, and protects the roof from UV rays. You can buy the floor later. If you buy the fly later, you will probably already have a damaged or degraded roof.
8' EXTENDED FLY (8" longer) fly is an upgrade option if you want a covered area in front of your tent. 200 feet of rope and rope tensioners included.

TENTS ON PLATFORMS
I strongly recommend you read my recommendations regarding placing wall tents on a platform, click platforms.
I strongly recommend (click) tent frame leg supports on platforms which are screwed onto the platform. Wood platforms are smooth surfaces compared to the ground. You don't want to have tent frame legs slide off a platform during high winds. Rich.
Leaving a tent set up for extended periods of time. Water can collect on the roof in an "eave trough". The trough is the area at the bottom of roof just before the side horizontal tent frame poles. Canvas should be very tight on frame if set up for extended periods of time and a fly used. Fly should also be tight to avoid water and snow in an eave trough. Canvas saturated in water will rot and mildew regardless of water mildew protection applied. There is no warranty for eave rot.
TESTIMONIALS
The Wilderness hunting tent package was a great deal. Your recommendations helped me purchase everything I needed for camping the first time. I didn't have to buy some items later, calling back, saying I forgot to buy this or that. Furthermore, it was nice to deal with only one company as you have every tent and stove option and accessory available. Thanks! Harry
Your package prices and quality are the best on the internet. I know this because I checked out all the other tent and stove companies on the internet before deciding to purchase from your company. After reviewing all the other websites for weeks I just kept coming back to the Tent Shop. Thanks for the best prices. Ben
We set up the wilderness canvas tent with the help of our boys in the yard to see how it was. Your tent is awesome. We are very happy with our purchase. Ben
I purchased the Wilderness 10 x 12 last year. Spent 3 weeks in the tent during October elk season. Was so impressed with the quality of the tent that I decided to purchase another wilderness. I am also very impressed with the customer service and quick response to my inquiries. Ken
I paid for the tent. I like your customer service and quick response. Tent shipped the next day. Justin
Hi folks. Just wanted to say hi and thanks for the prompt service. The pole cutting instructions were easy to follow. Love my new 16 x 20 hunting tent. It is so big and all the extra room. Now I can add a couple of nephews to the hunt and show them what my dad and I loved so much. Kelly
Thanks Tyler for the great service. Take care. Thanks again. Paul
