Whether you’re camping or participating in a reenactment, this free-standing canvas structure is the perfect addition to your setup. It provides shade and shelter while you eat, relax, or socialize with other reenactors. Be ready for the next event!
This standalone shelter lets you enjoy the fresh air without being directly exposed to sunshine and rain. It’s a great addition to a period-correct Civil War setup, letting you enjoy the luxury of an additional structure at your campsite.
Our Civil War Camping Dining Fly is available in multiple sizes to match different camp layouts and group needs. Popular options include 10’ x 10’, 12’ x 12’, 14’ x 14’, 16’ x 16’, and 20’ x 20’, providing plenty of shade and rain protection for eating areas, camp kitchens, or gathering spots.
The Civil War Dining Fly is sold with the canvas dining fly only. Poles, stakes, and guy lines are not included, giving you the flexibility to choose between traditional wooden poles and natural-fiber ropes for historical reenactments or modern hardware for convenience. This also keeps shipping costs down.
The recommended pole length depends on the size of the dining fly and the amount of headroom desired. As a general guideline:
- Center Poles: Cut to about 8-10 feet tall for standard camp use.
- Side Poles: Cut about 2-3 feet shorter than the center poles to create the proper slope for rain runoff.
For example, if you use 10’ center poles, your side poles should be about 7-8 feet tall. This setup provides good clearance while maintaining the correct angle for stability and weather protection.
