To use as a wall tent heat shield, use wire ties to secure mat/shield to the horizontal frame pole directly beside stove. The heat shield will protect the canvas wall nearest your stove.
A heat shield is advised If a person is concerned about the canvas wall beside the stove becoming too hot.
Certain tent manufacturers place their tent stove jacks in the roof 24 inches from a side wall. All of our wilderness tent models have the roof stove jack 30 inches from the side wall making it less likely the side wall become too hot.
Strongly recommend a heat shield be used if a person is camping in any type of synthetic tent. During windy conditions, the lightweight synthetic tent walls billow in the wind much more than canvas due to canvas being much heavier. The synthetic tent walls will quickly melt when in contact with a hot stove.
I use a heat shield in any tent I camp in just for the extra fire protection , Rich, owner.
To use as a stove mat, place mat about 6" behind back stove legs so approximately 1' of mat will be to the front of the stove in case any hot embers fall out when the stove door is opened.
Always have a fire proof material under any stove when using a vinyl floor or carpet in your tent.
