ANGLE KIT INSTRUCTIONS

Kwik Kamp angle kit ship date after wall tent is made or tent measurements received is usually two to three weeks, especially during the peak selling season August - October.

Wilderness angles (120 degrees) ship 1-2 days after ordering. Angles that are not 120 degrees ship within 1 week of ordering as these angles have to be made.

How to Measure Your Existing Tent For An Angle Kit: Click here to measure your tent. LAY YOUR TENT ON THE GROUND TO OBTAIN WIDTH (C) AND SLOPE MEASUREMENTS (B).

Materials Provided: Angle kits are constructed out of 1 1/4" inside diameter galvanized steel tubing.

Materials Needed: To complete your frame you will need one-inch EMT (electrical) thin wall conduit, which has an outside diameter slightly less than 1 1/4 " , that can be purchased at any hardware store. Electrical conduit sleeves inside of the 1 1/4 " inside diameter of the frame angle tube for a perfect fit.

RECOMMENDATION: Use heavy duty pipe cutters to cut your conduit as there will be less burrs and sharp pieces of metal.

ANGLE KIT Frame Completion: You will need 3 (exact) measurements from your tent to complete your frame.

LAY YOUR TENT ON THE GROUND TO OBTAIN MEASUREMENTS : WALL HEIGHT (A), RAFTER/SLOPE (B), AND LENGTH OF TENT (D)

A - Wall height ( Bottom of canvas to where wall meets the roof)

B - Rafter/slope (top of sidewall to ridge)

C - Width

D - Length of tent

* If you can use one 10' section of conduit for both a leg and a tent length - 18 total will be required. If not, 21 pieces of 10" conduit required.

Recommendation New Tents: On new tents I recommend that you reduce your rafter lengths 2% and tent length dimensions and tent legs by 1% to allow for canvas shrinkage which is normally 1-3%for new treated canvas tents. If you do not allow shrinkage, after your canvas shrinks you will have to cut down your rafter and tent lengths to avoid putting too much pressure on your zipper and seams.

RECOMMENDATION: DETERMINE ALL YOUR CUT REQUIREMENTS FOR LEGS AND TENT LENGTHS BEFORE CUTTING CONDUIT AS YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO SAVE ON CONDUIT IF YOU USE ONE PIECE OF CONDUIT FOR BOTH A LEG AND A TENT LENGTH.

RECOMMENDATION: REMEMBER THE OLD SAYING "MEASURE TWICE AND CUT ONCE"

NOTE: If R or Ridge is marked on angles the angles are for the RIDGE only.

Legs:

Measure A, WALL HEIGHT, from where roof meets the wall to the " bottom" of the wall canvas.

Deduct 1" from the A (wall height) dimensions for angle taking 1" of wall height.

Deduct leg length 1% for shrinkage on new tents.

Total deduction is normally 1 1/2"

ONE piece legs - number of legs required:

  • 3 rafter angle kit - cut 6
  • 4 rafter angle kit - cut 8
  • 5 rafter angle kit- cut 10
  • 6 rafter angle kit- cut 12
  • Porch Kit 2 rafter - cut 4
  • Porch Kit 3 rafter - cut 6

Rafters:

Measure B - , rafter/slope, from center of grommet on ridge to where roof meets the wall.

Deduct 2" from the rafter dimensions. (This 2" deduction is due to the 2 angles taking 2" of the rafter length)

Deduct rafter length another 2% for shrinkage on new tents.

ONE piece rafters:

  • 3 rafter angle kit - cut 6
  • 4 rafter angle kit - cut 8
  • 5 rafter angle kit - cut 10
  • 6 rafter angle kit - cut 12
  • Porch kit: 2 rafter angle kit - cut 4
  • Porch kit: 3 rafter angle kit - cut 6

If you require two piece rafters you will need to purchase optional sleeves (Porch 2 rafter - 4 sleeves, 3 rafter- 6 sleeves, 4 rafter- 8 sleeves, 5 rafter- 10 sleeves, 6 rafter- 12 sleeves).

TENT LENGTHS ( Ridge and 2 Eaves)

Measure D, ridge length, from end seam to end seam on each end of ridge.

NO DEDUCTION for steel angles taking up space.

Use exact D (length of tent) dimension and then deduct for shrinkage factor.

Deduct tent length 1% for shrinkage factor on new tents.

TENT LENGTHS - CUT RERQUIREMENTS,

3 rafter angle kit - divide tent length by 2 and cut 6

4 rafter angle kit - divide tent length by 3 and cut 9

  • 5 rafter angle kit - divide tent length by 4 and cut 12
  • 6 rafter angle kit - divide tent length by 5 and cut 15
  • Porch angle kit : 2 rafters - cut 3
  • Porch angle kit : 3 rafters - divide porch length by 3 and cut 6

To make two-piece tent lengths you will need to purchase optional sleeves (Porch- 2 rafter - 4 sleeves, 3 rafter-6 sleeves, 4 rafter-8 sleeves, 5 rafter-10 sleeves, 6 rafter-12 sleeves).

Mark all leg, rafter, and tent length sections to make assembly easier.

Frame Assembly:

If your tent fits tight over your frame:

  • Do not force the tent over the frame.
  • Either your tent lengths and/or rafters are too long.
  • You must reduce the tenth lengths and rafters lengths accordingly, otherwise you will damage the zipper and weaken your seams.
  • If your zipper is tight, reduce rafter length.
  • Remember, your new tent will shrink 1-3% after it gets wet.
