A spike tent with 4 'or 5' sidewalls provide significantly more headroom than spike tents with 2' or 3' sidewalls. A 4' or 5' wall spike tent is much more pleasurable to be in because you won't be stooping or hitting your head on canvas. The price difference between 4' /5' sidewalls compared to 2'/3' sidewalls is minimal and the weight is only 2 -3 pounds.

This 5' wall spike tent has one of the highest roof peaks available. The high roof speak allows for easy walking inside this spike tent.

DOUBLE FILL QUALITY

  • Army Duck, highest quality canvas available.
  • Hunter spike tents are made of 10.1 oz Sunforger "Double Fill" cotton.
  • Two threads are twisted together to make one single thread making it stronger and more durable.
  • Makes a much tighter weave.
  • Keeps moisture out and heat in better than other canvas.

ARMY DUCK 10.1 oz - SUNFORGER TREATED CANVAS

  • 10.1 oz Sunforger: Also commonly called "Marine Grade" or "Boatshrunk". These spike tents are treated twice for water and mildew resistance. Will not shrink more than 3%.
  • 10.1 oz Sunforger and Fire Treated. Same as Sunforger and treated to resist fire.

TENT CHARACTERISTICS

  1. Made in USA.
  2. Available colors: white
  3. Ceiling peak height is 9'6' for the extra headroom. Peak is reinforced. 1 1/2" metal ring at peak.
  4. 9'6" x 9'6" weight is approximately 23 lbs w/out floor, w/floor 29 lbs.
  5. Stove jack location and 4", 5" or 6" pipe opening -- determined by customer. Stove jack noramlly opposite corner from door.
  6. Stove jack has ties for flap. Stove jack normally right front corner unless specified when ordering.
  7. Inverted "T" zippered door with sewn in floor or with flap door and ties - customer decides.
  8. Reinforced corners with extra stitching and canvas.
  9. Grommetts installed with 10 ton kick press to ensure tightness and durability.
  10. Grommetts reinforced with nylon webbing sewn between double layer of canvas for increased durability.
  11. 4 extra steel stakes provided.
  12. Floor is a dark vinyl, strong and durable.
  13. Any spike tent size you want can be ordered.
  14. Zippered door to eave or you can also request a zippered door that goes into the roof so you won't have to bend over while entering the tent. Zipper has a 4" flap on roof. The zipper slide tab is located at the bottom of zipper.
  15. I recommend door only to eave. If you open door in roof when it rains or snows- you will get drenched. Additionally door in roof increses possibility of roof leak.
  16. 4' spike tent finished wall height is 3'8" and 5' spike tent finished wall height is 4'8".
  17. Center pole has a spike at end that goes through grommet in center of roof.
  18. 9 side poles: one at each corner, two at doorway, one at center of remaining three walls. 9 eyebolts with nuts. Side poles are on outside of tent with guy ropes.
    1. Set up instructions:The all metal stakes are the sidepole stakes that the sidepole fits over. Stake 4 corner grommets, bottom of tent, set up 4 corner side poles with guy ropes, insert the center pole, finish installing remaining side poles and stakes. The metal stakes with plastic top are the guy rope stakes.
    2. Eyebolt instructions:
      1. Put eyebolt through grommet and screw on nut.
      2. Put eyebolt threaded piece in top of side pole.
      3. Bottom of side pole goes over spike in the ground that goes through grommet on bottom of tent.
      4. Secure guy rope through eyebolt and then secure guy rope to all metal stake .
  19. Center poles and side poles are an option. See below for pricing.
  20. Recommendation:
    1. Due to the spike tent design, the spike tent is not recommended for use with HEAVY snow loads. All the weight is on the roof at the peak and only suppported by the center pole.
    2. If buying a spike tent I strongly recommend the 5' walls for the additional head room
